Albert H. Nahmad Panama Canal Gallery

View of the Albert H. Nahmad Panama Canal Gallery

The Albert H. Nahmad Panama Canal Gallery is located in the Smathers Library Building on the University of Florida campus in Gainesville, Florida. Since its opening in 2017, the Gallery has featured exhibits on the history of the Panama Canal with an emphasis on the personal stories of people who worked on the Canal and lived in the Canal Zone.

The creation of the Albert H. Nahmad Panama Canal Gallery in 2017 would not have been possible without the support of many generous donors. Please view our Honor Roll of Donors.

The Gallery is located on the first floor of the Smathers Library Building between the main and south entrances to the building . UF offers paid parking on campus at the Visitor Welcome Center in the Reitz Union. Other, external paid parking options are also available. For more information, consult this handout as well as the Special & Area Studies Collections visitor page.

During the Spring and Fall semesters, the hours for the Gallery are 8am-7pm Monday-Thursday, 8am-5pm Friday and 2-10pm Sunday. During the Summer semesters, the building is open 8am-5pm Monday-Friday. The building is closed for holidays and whenever classes are not in session. Consult the hours page for Smathers Library Building at https://ufl.libcal.com/hours.
